This course provides students with an understanding of the dynamic response of structures subjected to dynamic loading as well as to earthquakes. Both single and multi degree of freedom structures are examined. The common analysis techniques employed to evaluate these response are presented in detail. In particular, the course explains the natural mode superposition, the finite element method and numerical solutions. In summary, the course investigates this important topic in terms of both theory and practise with the inclusion of practical examples.
