2018-19 Spring - MATH4822F - Symmetry and Representation Theory

Course

Description

The course is an introduction to representation theory from historical perspective, in particular the development of mathematics in Fourier analysis, the Erlangen program and the Langlands program. We focus on examples of solving problems in analysis, geometry and number theory by representing elements of abstract algebraic structures as linear transformations of vector spaces.
