2018-19 Spring - MATH4983G - Independent Study: Statistical Techniques of Wind Speed Forecast

Course

Description

In this research project, the ensemble model post-processing techniques of wind speed forecast at selected weather stations in Hong Kong will be investigated. To improve the short-term trend in the probability forecasts of the wind speed, a Bayesian calibration algorithm called the Sequential Importance Resampling (SIR) will be developed for location-specific nowcast or very-short-range forecast of wind speed. Students should seek approval from the instructor to take this course.
