This course will begin with an introduction to design as a systematic process. The students will be introduced to the historic design movements and their features, including traditional, modernist, art deco, Bauhaus, contemporary, postmodern, etc. The connection between various design aesthetics to modern product design will be explored. Several elements of form and function will be introduced with their importance in industrial design. Finally, techniques and considerations for customer oriented design processes will be introduced with examples from systems as well as products. This part will also cover user experience.
