Today’s Japanese farming industry faces huge challenge of labor shortage with 83 thousand farmers retreat every year. Bayer CropScience in Japan has begun the use of drones, robots and digital technologies to combat labor shortage and increase solution value. Case challenge for this real consulting engagement is “How might we help Bayer CropScience in Japan improve the effectiveness and efficiency of field services to match the changing needs of Japanese farmers, partners and consumers while protecting the environment?” Students will learn about farming, FarmTech and apply McKinsey Engagement Methodology, Design Thinking and Blue Ocean Strategies to create bespoke consulting recommendations for Bayer Japan. Enrollment in the project course requires approval of the course instructor.
