Changes in population size and structure represent a very significant input to policy and planning decision making. This can be for both the public and the private sector; and at a local, regional or national scale. This course is an introduction to
applied demography; namely an exploration of the key issues involved in the relationship between population change, policy and planning. Students will gain an understanding of the role of population change in the design and development of
policies and programs, and learn demographic techniques used to both identify trends and challenges, as well as monitor and evaluate interventions.
