This course aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the working principles in separating substances by chemical and physical techniques. Topics in this course include: sample preparation for chromatographic analysis; instrumentation for gas and liquid chromatography; mass spectrometry, and etc. Applications of various separation techniques for forensic, environmental, biological, pharmaceutical, food and drink analyses are provided as illustrating examples.
