Instructor(s)/Supervisor(s)/Coordinator(s): Baryon Tensor POSADASThis course examines non-Japanese texts that deploy the imagination of "Japan" in their narratives. Discussions will take up such focal points as: ethnographic cinema, the politics of travel and translation, the intersections of race and gender, the cultural politics of alternate histories, and the ramifications of techno-orientalist discourse.
