Description

This research seminar consists of two types of content. One type of content is to introduce the basic building blocks for economic analytical modeling. We will discuss how to build economic models and write papers in general, the basic concepts of game theory, and commonly used framework for economic modeling. The other type of content is to introduce the research in the field of Management Information Systems. Topics discussed in class will include search and pricing, online advertising and sponsored search, user-generated content and social media, online platform and business model, auctions and mechanism design, and more depending on class interest. Together, we will cover both the standard models used in industrial organization and information systems and the modeling and solution process.
