Instructor(s)/Supervisor(s)/Coordinator(s): Man Hoi WONGThis course covers the physics and technologies of compound semiconductor devices, stressing how differences from silicon enable unique applications in wireless communications, power switching, photovoltaics, and solid-state lighting. Electronic bandstructures will be used to develop band diagrams of complex heterostructures and nanostructures. Examples in electronic and photonic applications will be used to motivate the materials science of crystal growth, doping, and fabrication.
