The course will introduce students to the history of modern Chinese poetry from the early twentieth century to the contemporary era. Major poets and aesthetic styles will be the focus of the class. In addition to developing their abilities in aesthetic appreciation, students will have opportunities to have hands-on experience in writing poems in Chinese, translation, and engaging in creative multi-media poetry projects.
