Description

This course introduces the governance structures surrounding the development and application of AI technologies. Different governance and regulatory instruments proposed by the private sector, national governments, and international organizations are discussed through a comparative perspective. The discussion of policy instruments is structured around the tradeoff between promoting innovation and protecting from risks stemming from AI. Based on the analysis of real-world scenarios, students will learn how to navigate them with the usage of different governance principles and frameworks. The course is suitable for students with and without technical or policy backgrounds.
