2024-25 Spring - BIEN4000D - Introduction to Omics Technologies

Course

Description

This is an introduction to the now-prevalent technologies for high-throughput bioanalytical methods, commonly known as “omics” technologies – genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics. Fundamental knowledge about the classes of biomolecules and the molecular basis of biological information will be reviewed. The working principles of nucleic acid sequencing platforms and biological mass spectrometry, and the computational workflows for the omics data analysis will be introduced. The applications of these technologies in life science research and clinical practice will be discussed.
