Description

This course develops students’ craft, creativity and technical skills in working with live electronics in the production of sound. Using significant repertoire as points of reference, the course explores techniques for using software to manipulate and create sound in contexts such as live instrumental performance (including combinations of acoustic instrument plus electronics), sound installation, and sound sculpture. The course will culminate in an open concert presentation of final works that students will have developed over the semester in consultation with the instructor. Approval of the course instructor is needed for students to enroll in this course. Students should have prior experience with electronic music. Prior experience with instrumental composition will also be beneficial.
