2024-25 Spring - MCEE6000A - Solar Energy Science and Engineering

Course

Description

Solar energy is the most prominent renewable energy option for our carbon-neutral future. If efficiently and cheaply harnessed, the solar energy available on the surface of the earth is sufficient to meet the energy requirements of the entire planet while creating minimum carbon footprint. Therefore, the efforts in the past decades, developing solar energy science and technology, have been significant. This course will elaborate the key science and engineering topics of solar energies, especially focusing on photovoltaic and photothermal devices. The systematic understanding of basic principles, manufacturing processes, and deployment of these devices can play an important role in our students’ future career as an energy engineer.
