Instructor(s)/Supervisor(s)/Coordinator(s): Suk Wai Winnie LEUNGThis course is designed for students seeking first-hand experience in transforming a product or technology idea into a viable startup. Participants will learn the processes and resources necessary to build a startup, taking an existing project idea through conceptual design and prototyping stages, ultimately pitching their startup idea to external experts. Key topics include design thinking, product conceptualization, market research, industrial design, technology review, supply chain management, business model development, as well as project pitching skills. The course will be delivered through lectures, workshops, visits, hands-on sessions, and project presentations, condensing into a 10-day boot camp format. Students will receive mentorship from the teaching team and external experts and will have opportunities to collaborate with peers from other institutions. Company visits, field trips, and an exploration of the Great Bay Area (GBA) supply chain landscape will be included, along with interactions with experienced entrepreneurs. Instructor’s approval is required for course enrollment.
