This course is offered under the program of the HKUST Summer Institute for Secondary School Students by the School of Science. The course aims to cover the materials about the fundamental concepts of counting, probability theory and random variables. The key topics are permutation, combination, sample spaces, conditional probability, random variables, independence, discrete distributions, expectation, and some results related to statistics.
