Instructor(s)/Supervisor(s)/Coordinator(s): Emma RAOThis four-and-a-half-week course is designed for students with non-Chinese language background who have not previously learned the Pinyin system. It aims to enhance their ability to pronounce Chinese words correctly and to increase their awareness of Pinyin spelling rules, tone sandhi, erhua, and neutral tone, as well as to help them identify the differences between some easily confused tones, initials and finals. After completing this course, students will be able to use Pinyin as a tool to pronounce commonly used Chinese words and sentences in daily life. Graded P or F.
