Abstract
A 3 V three-stage CMOS voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) with an active feedback biasing circuitry implemented in a 0.5 μm CMOS technology is presented. The proposed VCO has a wide operating frequency range from 1.3 to 1.8 GHz with a relatively constant output amplitude and good linearity between the output frequency and the control input current. The power supply sensitivity is 5.5%/V, the temperature coefficient is +500 ppm/°C, and the timing jitter Δτrms is 0.3 ps. Power consumption of this VCO is 23 mW.
