N2 - We produce nanostructured metallic glasses in different metal-based glass-forming systems by using magnetron sputtering with powder targets. This new class of materials: nanograined metallic glasses (NGMGs) show unique mechanical, physical and chemical properties. Attributed to the surface nanostructural topography, Ti-based NGMGs exhibit enhanced cell proliferation, comparable to or even higher than the well known biocompatible Ti metals.
