Abstract
Bedsores are chronic, devastating dermal wounds commonly affecting individuals with limited mobility. Despite the availability of a comprehensive collection of therapeutic modalities for the treatment of bedsores, due to the fact that patients afflicted with bedsores cannot move around freely, thus reducing blood circulation and hence the supply of nutrients and growth factors to the affected areas, bedsores could deteriorate quickly from the mildest development, Stage 1, to a more severe (Stage 2 to 3), or even the most detrimental phase, Stage 4, which commonly requires expensive surgical operations for wound management, repair and regeneration. To prevent bedsores at their early development to get worse, in this communication, we provide evidence to support that the application of recombinant EGF and bFGF, both of which are expressed as active and stable authentic molecules, to effectively treating bedsores with symptoms revealing Stages 2 and 3 (or even 4) injuries.
