Abstract

In this small-scale study, we examined the number and percentage of HKUST publications (2017-2021) with preprint version deposited to arXiv and we compared the average citation counts of publications with or without online arXiv preprints. Through a snapshot of the publication citation data, we can gain some insights on whether having openly available preprints could bring higher impact to the research outputs.
