Abstract
Fluidized bed pyrolyzers are commonly used for biomass fast pyrolysis to maximize the pyrolysis oil yield. Homogenous secondary pyrolysis reactions in a fluidized bed scenario were studied. The fluidized gas temperature was a more critical factor than vapor residence time in causing secondary reactions, while feedstock size showed a little impact. The downward flow of the pyrolysis volatiles observed along the reactor wall is to be considered in the design of the feeding and fluidized bed.
