Abstract

A direct-view liquid-crystal-on-silicon reflective microdiaplay system was developed. The silicon panels with integrated drivers were fabricated by a custom 0.5 μm 3-metal CMOS technology. The spatial resolution of the panel is XGA (1024 × 768). Color sequential technique was applied for color video displays. A 30 Hz flicker-free color video display was achieved by gluing more RGB LEDs to compensate the shorter LED lighting up time with the increased refresh rate.
