Abstract

From the roots of Euphorbia fischeriana, two new diterpene lactones, langduin B and 17-acetoxyjolkinolide A, together with five known diterpenes, jolkinolide A, 17-hydroxyjolkinolide A, jolkinolide B, 17-hydroxyjolkinolide B, and ent-11β-hydroxyabieta-8(14),13(15)-dien-16,12β-olide were isolated. The structural determination was accomplished by interpretation of spectral data and in the case of langduin B by X-ray crystallographic analysis. Six aromatic compounds were also obtained during the course of isolation.
