Abstract

Models and paradigms of academic library services came of age in a print environment. In the early 21st century, we have previously-undreamed-of opportunities to help students and scholars find, select, and use information, data, knowledge, and wisdom of others, and to create further knowledge. At the same time, librarians and library users face many obstacles to making use of these opportunities. This talk puts these problems into a bit of perspective, and shares some possible ways we can overcome them, using examples from HKUST Library and other libraries and organizations.
