Abstract

Fidelity is an important factor in evaluation of visualization simulation systems. But now, most of visual system evaluations are based on subjective feeling of experts, and research work focuses on propose of evaluation, with indicators ignored. At first, the characteristics of visualization for some military simulation system were analyzed, and a set of indicators were proposed, including all steps of building visualization simulation system, such as 3D modeling, virtual environment, physical field, and sound effect. Then, as an illustration, the fidelity of a 3D model of a torpedo was discussed. As a conclusion, 5 principles for design and development of visualization simulation systems were proposed.
