Abstract
Prokaryotes are hodgepodge-like “bags” with minimal intracellular organization. Recently in Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Xia et al. synthesized artificial membraneless organelles in prokaryotes as “crucibles” for enhanced biosynthesis of terpene, driven by liquid-liquid phase separation of engineered intrinsically disordered proteins.
