Abstract
In reverse engineering, information is derived from a physical object. This paper reports the reconstruction of a 3D computer model from the 2D orthogonal projection images of a physical object. The images of an opaque object from six orthographic views are first captured by a digital camera. A telephoto lens is incorporated in the digital camera in order to minimize the perspective effect in the projection of images. After image pre-processing, 2D wireframes of the six projection views of the object are obtained. The output of the image processing is used for solid construction.
