Abstract

A correction scheme of the multigrid method was used in the pressure iteration routine of the SOLA-VOF code as a substitute for the successive-over-relaxation (SOR) method for the convergence of the iteration. The code was applied for flows involving two fluids of large difference in densities. Owing to the density difference, a stability problem arose in the injection of residuals from a fine grid into a coarser grid. The difficulty was circumvented with slight modifications to the code. Finally the multigrid method was able to work and was tested to be more advantageous than the SOR method.
