Abstract

Pt/TiO2 photocatalyst was prepared using a photocatalytic reduction method and characterized with XRF, TEM and XRD. Effects of factors such as pH, Pt loading, addition of Fe2+ and protection gas on the activity of photocatalyst in nitrogen removal by coupled ammonia oxidation and nitrite reduction were investigated. Results showed that a basic condition was in favor of the coupled ammonia oxidation, nitrite reduction rate. The nitrogen removal rate was the highest with 0.5% Pt loading. Also, the photocatalyst activity was enhanced under protection gas N2 and addition of Fe 2+ increased the activity of photocatalytic reduction of nitrite.
