Abstract

GIPSY is a general interactive image processing software system designed by R.M. Haralick to be easily learned, used, modified and transported from one computer to another. It can process single or multiband images, in real or integer format, and contains >200 operations, including those required for clustering, region growing, and property file generation, as well as a large assortment of image processing algorithms. GIPSY may be used in ore microscopy, mineral identification and reflectance measurement, area measurement, azimuthal measurements, size analysis, distribution and co-occurrence and shape analysis.-J.M.H.
