Oriental literature study in Russia

The oriental literature study in China has made significant achievements in the recent decades. However, Chinese scholarship has paid little attention to how oriental literature study evolved in the Western world or in Russia. This paper fills the gap by tracing the development of oriental literature study in Russia in the past centuries, exploring its unique features and clearing up some of the misunderstandings of the Chinese academia.
