Abstract

The Pearl River Estuary Pollution Project (PREPP) is initiated to study the relative flux of toxic pollutants, sediment and nutrients entering Hong Kong waters from the Pearl River. This study will provide information for international scientific community, Hong Kong and Chinese environmental policy makers and the Hong Kong public community so that a concerted effort will be made to reduce the impact of the Pearl River pollution on Hong Kong water quality and ecological components of the ecosystem.
