Abstract
This:paper presents a summary of recent results on numerical and experimental 'investigation of muliphase flow with phase-change heat transfer in capillary, structures. The emphasis placed on:the modeling of some boiling; and condensation problems using a newly developed muliphase mixture model which accounts for complex interacting physical phenomena such as phase change, capillary action, buoyancy-induced flow convection in the subcooled liquid and multi-dimensional effects. The problems under consideration include buoyancy-induced I flow boiling and mixed convection boiling in a vertical packed channel, forced convection boiling in a:horizontal packed channel with a localized heat source from below, as well as steam injection into a ground water reservoir.
