Abstract
We present a novel 3D-unfolding method based on Cosine-Sine-Decomposition (CSD) to enable an alternative arrangement of unitary blocks towards plane normal, which reduces the planar footprints of universal multiport interferometers exponentially. © 2022 The Author(s)
