Abstract

Second harmonic generation (SHG) intensity was measured in poled films of poly(methyl methacrylate) and bisphenol-A-polycarbonate doped with non-linear optical dyes. Physically ageing the films during poling resulted in improved temporal stability of the SHG signal. Temporal stability was also improved using dopants of larger size. Possible mechanisms are discussed.
