title = "Street Canyon effects on roadside air pollution",
abstract = "The dispersion of air pollutants caused by motor vehicles in buildings was studied under different atmospheric conditions and under different building layouts and building heights. The dispersion models used were a second generation Gaussian dispersion model ADMS, which was characterized by the use of boundary layer similarity profiles to parameterize the variation of turbulence with height within the boundary layer and the well known Computational Fluid Dynamics model, Fluent. The wind speed reduction could be up to 80\% if 4H high-rise buildings were constructed in front of a low-building cluster. The ventilation ability of pollutant out of low building cluster was measured and showed that the high building construction in the front of the low building clusters caused a considerable negative influence on pollutant dispersion. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 101st AWMA Annual Conference and Exhibition (Portland, OR 6/24-27/2008).",
