Abstract

The experimental program described was undertaken to clarify the interface flow structure, as well as the closure relations, and to study the dynamic response of wave perturbations to the imposition of air modulations. The Stanford wind-wave facility was modified to permit generation of an air modulation with a sinusoidal variation. A wave height gage and an X-array hot-film probe were used to measure simultaneously the wave height and the wind velocity from a wave-follower operating in a transformed coordinate system. Drift current effects on the mean flow are also discussed.
