Abstract

Dye laser pulses with a duration of 160-350 ps and a spec- tral width of 0.06 nm were obtained by pumping a grazing incidence dye laser with a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. The pulse shortening was due to a cavity transient effect which has also been observed in N2 laser-pumped dye lasers.
