Abstract

A symposium on fire and combustion systems held in response to the growing concerns over combustion-generated pollutants and fire-safety provided a forum for the interaction between researchers in heat transfer, combustion and fuels technology. The proceedings contains 23 papers from the symposium illustrating the current state of the art of research in these areas, presented at five sessions: combustion diagnostics and experimental investigations, combustion modeling and analysis, combustion-generated pollutants, fire growth and suppression, and turbulent and spray combustion, and discussed over an open forum.
