Abstract

This research is mainly focused on the study on the electrical properties of the conductive polymer composites. A comparison of the electrical properties of the conductive polymer composites prepared by the conventional melt mixing and the sintering methods is made. Three of the disadvantages of the conventional conductive polymer composites are improved by the sintering method--the amount of the carbon black used in the sintering method is less than that in the conventional melt mixing method to produce the same resistivity; the composites prepared by the sintering method are much more stable than those prepared by the conventional one when heat-aged at high temperatures and the composites produced by the sintering method are less mixing time-dependent. Also, the effects of different polymers and different carbon blacks used were studied.
