The Waring's problem for meromorphic functions of one complex variable is to find some optimal relationship between the integers k and n - the number of non-constant meromorhpic functions that is used to express an arbitrary given meromorphic function. In this paper, we use Cartan's theorem and the Nevanlinna's inequality to study the entire and meromorphic solutions of the functional equation ∑j=1p aj(z)fjkj(z) = 1.
