Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) were fabricated in one-dimensional channels of AlPO4-11 single crystal (AEL) by pyrolysis of dipropylamine (DPA). The structure of the SWNT was characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, micro-Raman and polarized optical absorption measurements. The radial-breathing modes (RBM) located at 760cm-1 and 832cm-1 are reliably assigned to (2,2) and (3,0) tubes respectively. The corresponding resonances at 2.6eV and 2.0eV agree very well with the electronic transitions observed in the polarized absorption spectra. All these results indicate the existence of ultra-small 0.3nm SWNT.
