Abstract

This study investigates how organizational mindfulness influences radical and incremental process and product innovation from a cognitive perspective. It further explores the moderating effect of technology capability and profitability on the relationship between mindfulness and innovation. I propose that organizational mindfulness has a positive relationship with both radical and incremental and process innovation but a negative relationship with product innovation. The relationship between organizational mindfulness and innovation can be further positively moderated by technology capability and profitability. Results based on data from a survey of managers in 361 Chinese firms largely support the hypotheses. This thesis is one of the first studies to explore the impact of for organizational mindfulness on innovation and it further advances our understanding on mindfulness and organizational learning.
