Student thesis: Master's thesis

Abstract

Excessive levels of heavy metal ions in water has raised concerns to human health and environment. Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) is a popular adsorbent material due to its high adsorption capacity and ability to adsorb various heavy metal ions. UiO-66-NH2 can remove Hg2+ with adsorption capacity at 194 mg g-1 and rate constant at 0.006 g mg-1 min-1. Furthermore, UiO-66-NH2 was grown on polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) fiber for metal-sensing properties. UiO-66-NH2 on PVDF fiber can be used as a sensor to detect and monitor concentration of various heavy metal ions existing in aqueous solution.
